Baked Expectations

Baked Expectations, yes the 60’s styled diner that has you feeling like John Travolta and been serving heavenly cheesecake for 20-plus years has snuck its way into the club scene. I didn’t even know this place had food, but sure enough they had a club, and long story short…I sat down.

I have always thought Baked Expectations is a little overpriced for what it is. But after this visit they have won me over. I am a sucker for the old school diner vibes which is not found elsewhere in town, and not to mention dozens of fresh cakes to choose from. $7.50 for a piece of cake seems a little absurd, but they are delicious. I just make sure it’s a once in a blue moon kind of thing – if that.

Baked Expectations has hands down one of the nicest looking clubs in the city. The colours alone make it rival the Grace Cafe for best looking club in town. But just like many things in life, it’s more than looks that count. SO! how did this one stack up to the competition you ask? Well I can sum it up in one word, piquant.

The bread, lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayo, and melted cheese all came together in perfect harmony. They did use sandwich meat for the chicken, but it worked, so no harm done. One thing that I didn’t see coming was that the fries were real diner-like. Very Nick’s Inn reminiscent – overall a very pleasant experience.

Family friendly, nice service, good location, moist brownies, and good club make Baked Expectations a place to check out. One thing to keep in mind though is that it can get quite noisy at peak times, so prepare for that.

Price: $11.95 w/ fries
